He can join the couch routine

Our little dog always wants to be wherever we are. I liked the idea of giving him a step-by-step route to his favorite spot.

Our little dog always wants to be wherever we are. I liked the idea of giving him a step-by-step route to his favorite spot.
We didn't expect him to understand the steps straight away. We practiced slowly, and the treat tin was involved.
I checked the height and the space in front of it first. That's more useful than assuming every set of pet steps fits every piece of furniture.
The couch is not particularly high to me. To our dog, it's a much bigger piece of furniture. The steps make that difference easier to picture.
We leave them beside the spot where he likes to curl up. It's become part of the living room rather than something we put away every night.
His favorite blanket is at the top. That gave him a fairly good reason to investigate.
Pet things get used every day, so being able to take the fabric cover off was one of the details I looked for.
We introduced one step at a time and kept it relaxed. I think that was better than trying to hurry him.
Our dog wants to be close, especially in the evening. I wanted to make his usual route a little more practical.
